Happy New Year!

Okay.  So I'm a little late.  Like 19 days late in saying Happy New Year.  I meant to start this back on the 1st but for some reason never did.  Well, I'm here now.  Excited?  I know you are.  :)

For those who don't know, the Hubs and I bought our first house last summer and time has flown by ever since.  We have soooo many plans for this place.  It will definitely take us awhile to get it to where we really want it.  However, at the end of the summer last year we finished one major DIY project/remodel. When we bought the house and moved in, the master bathroom was in rough shape.  There was quite a bit of water damage, from an unknown source, to the wood floors and the vanity.  The house inspection didn't show any major problems and we were told we would just need to replace the floor.  Haha.  Yeah, that's an easy fix.  We did it anyways and I think it turned out quite well.  We started the project by doing some research on what we wanted in the bathroom and looked at ways we could keep the cost down.  In order to do that, we kept the original shower and toilet and just replaced the damaged pieces which were the floor and vanity.  Here is what it looked like before:

The Hubs wanted cork floor for the bathroom so we look at all our options and found one we liked at Lowe's.  Other than helping him cut boards when he needed it, the floor was all his project.  He ripped up the old floor, added some extra plywood to raise the floor a little bit, and laid down the cork floor.  Since it was a tongue and groove type flooring, it didn't seem that difficult.  I think the hardest part was measuring and cutting all the pieces, but since I didn't really have a part in it, I can't say for sure.

While he was working on the floor, I was getting the vanity ready and put together.  We decided on a double sink vanity from IKEA that we put together ourselves.  I did help with this and it really wasn't that difficult to put together.  The hardest part was attaching it to the way and dealing with the plumbing underneath, especially the plumbing.  It was a pain in the butt, let me tell you and I wasn't the one dealing with it.  Very glad I have a handy husband. Haha.

In the end, we were very happy with the outcome and still are.  So, here is the finished project:

Hope you liked our bathroom remodel.  It's nothing too spectacular, but it's what we wanted and we love it.  Since we are the ones using it, that's all that matters.  Haha.  Check back soon for more on our new house and other crazy adventures we are getting ourselves in to.  :)
